Mimic.

Mimic emerged as an exploration of improvisation and material interplay—a lighting object conceived through a reverse design process. Rather than beginning with a predetermined form or function, the project evolved organically from a collection of disparate studio components and newly arrived glass samples provided by a manufacturer.

This spontaneous assembly process led to the discovery of unexpected visual and material relationships, giving rise to a distinctive lighting concept.

Realised in both table lamp and pendant variations, Mimic employs a chrome-plated borosilicate glass orb paired with an illuminated sphere positioned above it. When the two interact, the reflective surface of the lower orb produces an illusionary mirrored effect, creating a play of light, shadow, and depth.

The result is a balance between reflection and illumination—a study in how simple forms, finishes and chance combinations can yield sophisticated, visual experiences.
