Astro Lighting
Designed and made during a short time as an intern at British lighting manufacturer Astro, Undulate proposes a sculptural lighting family that captures the gentle rhythm of movement in nature through form and illumination.
Made from translucent porcelain, the piece takes its name from the fluid, wave-like contours that wrap around its cylindrical body. These curves serve a decorative and functional purpose. They are utilised to diffuse the internal light, creating a soft interplay of brightness and shadow that shifts as one moves around it.
When illuminated, Undulate reveals the natural translucency of porcelain, emitting a warm, ambient glow. Its surface transitions evoke the motion of fabric caught in a breeze or the erosion of stone shaped by water over time.
Designed as a study in material sensitivity, Undulate bridges the gap between functional object and luminous sculpture.
